Accountability Terms


• Accountable: One who is answerable. A permission-based submission to another person to account for the keeping of agreements made.

• Goal: the result or achievement toward which effort is directed.

• Peer Coach: The individual participant who cares enough about you to devote time and energy to helping you hold yourself accountable to the things you have agreed to.

• Peer Partner: The individual participant you are the Peer accountability coach for. One of your peers (co-participants) whom you are devoting your time and energy to help keep them accountable to themselves for those things they have agreed to.


• Resolve: to come to a definite or earnest decision about; determine (to do something).

• Success: the favorable or prosperous completion of attempts or endeavors
. Mark's corollary: Failure, even for a really good reason, is not the same as success!


Physical Training Terms


• Benchmarking: the standards or references by which your goal can be measured or judged against.

• Fitness: Capability of the body of distributing inhaled oxygen to muscle tissue during increased physical effort.

• Measurement: The dimension, quantity, or capacity determined by measuring

• Metrics: A standard of measurement; A mathematical function that describes the distances between pairs of points.


• Race: Urgent need, responsibility or effort, as when time is short or a solution is imperative; ex: the race to save the victim of a heart attack.


Health & Nutrition Terms


• BMI: Body Mass Index; A measurement of the relative percentages of fat and muscle mass in the human body, in which weight in kilograms is divided by height in meters and the result used as an index of obesity

• BMR: basal metabolic rate. The rate at which energy is used by an person at complete rest, measured by the heat given off per unit time, and expressed as the calories released per kilogram of body weight or per square meter of body surface per hour.


• Body Fat Percentage: Body fat percentage is an estimate of the fraction of the total body mass that is adipose tissue (or referred to as Fat Mass), as opposed to lean body mass (muscle, bone, organ tissue, blood, and everything else) or referred to as Fat Free Mass. This index is often used as a means to monitor progress during weight loss .


• Calories: technically it's an amount of heat exactly equal to 4.1840 joules; a quantity of food capable of producing such an amount of energy in the body.

• Joules: A unit of electrical energy equal to the work done when a current of one ampere is passed through a resistance of one ohm for one second.
